Risotto, Donkeys and F-Bombs, OH MY!

Another one of my favorite shows starts tomorrow night! Cue up the theme music please..."Fiiii-ya... Woo hoo hoo, baby" —

HELL'S KITCHEN

My husband and I love to cook and also enjoy reenacting the show while in the kitchen. Whether it's taking turns as the 'sous chef' or throwing obscenities out at burnt risotto (or Tortino's pizza, which is usually the case on weeknights), we couldn't be without this show! The pugnacious Gordon Ramsay conducts the next 15 chefs towards culinary stardom. This season's winner will earn a senior chef position at Ramsay’s new restaurant located at the London West, Hollywood. OOOH, I can't wait!!

Catch the premiere of Hell's Kitchen Tuesday, April 1 at 9/8c on Fox

Here's a preview of what's in store for Season 4:

Make Scrambled Eggs — The right way!

Gordon's concoctions are quite tasty! Here's his version of a scrambled egg breakfast that we've tried...which is incredibly delicious! I love how he burns the toast though, LOL! Another favorite line – "If you want to be a good boyfriend, give it to her in bed... The breakfast!" Just watch...

One of Many Gordon Ramsay Books

This excellent book tells his life story and how he rose to the top of the culinary world! It undoubtedly gives a whole new perspective on the notorious chef! Find out why he acts the way he does and you might actually find yourself wanting to give him a big hug! Gordon hater or follower, it's worth the read...

Who's Got Talent? Apparently Evil Brit's Do!

So here it is... Last night was the Celebrity Apprentice finale. So far, I have to say this was probably one of the most interesting seasons. The concept was clever; some of the decisions were in my opinion — insane! Raising money for a charity is great, but use some morals in doing so Piers!

Don Jr. starts out in the beginning by saying, "Trace was stoic..." He used one of my favorite words! I first realized the word stoic when Dane Cook used it to describe old time photos as "stoic and creepy" from the Civil War era during his 'War Flute' skit. It makes me laugh for some odd reason! Trace, not creepy at all, endured pain brought on by Piers and never showed his true feelings or complained about it.

Best line of the episode in my opinion was, "The most heterosexual cowboy in the world and the heavyweight champion go to buy nail polish, not for a woman, but for a man!!" LOL! Ivanka even comments in the final boardroom about how embarrassed she would be if she was in their field. I was never a huge fan of the Backstreet Boys, but they were acting like over-payed, needy, and whiny little brats! And, Wheat Grass Juice? What the heck is that?! Trace commented that looking at the rider for the BSB gave him a new appreciation for himself. When the boy-band finally performed, they did well without the earthy tonic anyway.

I loved Trace and everything he was for, but his hair looks kinda goofy without his cowboy hat on! The Donald still has magical hair. Aside from that, it really got me when his family showed up and he said that he had to just shut the world out for a minute because everything else was meaningless. So true! I don't think anyone with a heart could have not felt his emotions at that moment. He represented his charity and family with honor!

Did you catch Carol Alt's boob popping out of her dress? I'm sure most guys did!

Did it seem like Lennox was just his soldier going through the motions? Perhaps.

Was I was surprised that Piers apologized to Stephen for being rude to him? Yes!

Back to the show...

What about Piers' strategy to get the rich people drunk so they'd be more willing to bid higher? Very distasteful...I guess I would have expected that from him, but that was soooo LOW. Trump later comments that smart people would not allow that to happen. The other evil Brit gets a call from him... Simon Cowell flat out tells him that he's doing it for the charity and not his benefit. Ooh, he does have a heart after all.

In the final boardroom Piers thinks Trace made an "Inference that I was belittling your donors." Trace doesn't have the type of monetary connections that Piers has, and it was rightfully so that he would imply that. I liked how Omarosa slithered in and started bashing Piers' dental hygiene. That was hilarious! A satellite appearance from my original pick, Gene Simmons (even speaking a little Japanese), was the icing on the cake. He spoke of Trace's values as "a quality that’s missing in America... and that’s called a tug of the heart." I love that... well said, Gene!

There's no turning back time, and even with a unanimous show of hands from the group in Trace's favor, Donald chose Piers. His charity, the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, is well deserving and I'm glad they will also get an additional chunk of cash from the man himself. It's just too bad Trace couldn't have won. His charity, FAAN, is so close to his heart, as it is to 12 million other Americans afflicted with food allergies.

I just took the poll on the official site, and 62% of voters think Donald made the wrong decision. I'm not surprised!

My Idol Pick & Paula's Cracked Fashion-Sense

You rock, David Cook!

So my husband didn't really care for David Cook's performance last night, but I thought it was awesome. In case you missed it, the theme was a song from your birth year. He chose something daring (and that I never would have chosen) — Billie Jean from good 'ol Michael Jackson. I thought it was a very interesting arrangement (originally done by Chris Cornell) and he executed it well. He even got kudos from Simon... who'da thunk? I seriously think he'll win the competition! But if some major let-down occurs, he will be just like Chris Daughtry and still rake in the recognition he deserves.

My second pick, unfortunately didn't do well last night. Carly Smithson's performance was distracting and it seemed like she wasn't prepared. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was not a great song choice for her. Love her accent though, and think she has a great personality!

Did you catch Paula? She couldn't even sit down! And what was with her outfit? LOL!! Mandi if you're reading this... she had very, may I say — "Elegant SLEEVIES"!!! Gotta give her credit for what she wears though. At least she didn't look doped out like usual!

Anway, good luck to David Cook tonight!

Canine Apprentice

Last night's Apprentice was awesome!

After chiseling the field down to the final 2 contestants, Trace (my pick to win) refers to Piers' game as "ruthless & merciless" and that he stabs people in the forehead, not the back. I have to agree and I hope he kicks the Brit's arse. Can't stand Piers!! Thought it was funny, too, when Stephen Baldwin prayed that Piers wouldn't choose him. And he did! LOL.

I also want Trace to win because of his charity, FAAN (Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network), and what he's trying to do for his daughter's safety & well-being; as well as build awareness and help find a solution for other children suffering from food allergies. I'd rather have someone with a "heart" win and not someone who's just trying to "out-do" the other guy.

There were many excellent exchanges, but my ultimate favorite quote of the night (and perhaps, the season) was from Trace:

"Piers is a Chihuahua... man... A Chihuahua is one of the tiniest dogs on the planet. They bark loud, they make a lot of noise & they're a pain in the ass... But they're no real threat... That's Piers Morgan."

Wrong way, dumb-@ss!

I have been know on occasion to have a blonde moment, but this takes the prize. Let me humor you...

Desperately in need of caffeine this morning, I decided to take a detour and stop at the friendly "Rolling Cappuccino" here in town. For those of you not familiar with the setup, it's a small little hut with a drive up window on either side of it, so you can place an order from whichever side suits you best.

In my dreamy state, the steering wheel felt as if it were on auto-pilot. I executed my entrance to obtain my "steaming hot nectar of the gods" when suddenly I realized I was going into the EXIT, not the (what seemed hidden at the time) ENTRANCE! Now I'm sure others have done this, but it was particularly embarrassing when you're the dumb-@ss!!

Now I had to get to the other side of the hut and make it look like I knew that I meant to do that!! Not an easy task... After a series of maneuvers I finally pulled up to the window. Luckily the Barista had a sense of humor and whispered to me at the drive-up "It happens a lot".

So, if you were just saying that to make me not feel bad... thanks! I'm sure it doesn't happen that often. Hope I gave the coffee girls a good laugh this morning.

Maybe I should dye my hair lighter next time?? Maybe it's just part of my charm... But, my coffee sure was tasty :)

Curse you Arial...grr...

Gotta make one more post today!

After battling most of my afternoon with exporting a pdf out of Word (not my choice of software for the aforementioned file), I came to find out Helvetica was causing trouble for those, 'eh HEM', PC users. I've always been a Mac Addict and would choose Helvetica over Arial any day because of that dreaded M-word (Microsoft); plus it has stood the test of time.

Luckily, I was able to switch everything quickly with style sheets after the problem was finally recognized. Doing things a second time always goes faster at least!

Anyway, I came across this fun game for all you font geeks (I'm one, too)...

What's funny is I was going to upload this post in Helvetica, but guess what?! Not a font choice! Son-of-a.

Trace meets fine art

Another of my favorite shows is The Apprentice. If you missed last night's episode, each team had to choose an artist, display their work and see who can sell the most in a shared gallery. Oh, and by the way, Omarosa finally got the boot. I'm surprised none of her teammates have ever tried to choke her! I know Piers has been very close, but WOW!

Anyway, being an artist I have to say I rolled when Trace Adkins made this comment while peering through the sample books...

"There only a couple of them i even... get... ya know... the rest of it's that 3 year old threw up on a canvas kinda stuff... i don't like that stuff."

I'll Start Tomorrow...

Ok, I really love the Biggest Loser! Can't watch an episode without shedding at least a few tears...but, don't ya just want to smack Jillian when she stands there at the weigh-ins with that smirk?!! These people works there arses off, lose an incredible 5 pounds and she hardly gives them praise! Maybe it's tough love? I know she's an awesome trainer and will show people results, but come on... Losing a pound or two in a week is an awesome accomplishment! I guess I'd rather be trained by Bob if I had a choice as I like his techniques better.

I felt really bad though when Bernie got the boot last night. I liked him and hope he comes back to win the whole thing. He's not an "in your face" type of contestant and always seems so surprised at his accomplishments. I think it was great that he gave his "immunity" pass to his partner, Brittany. Not sure she entirely deserved it, but it saved her from elimination for sure.

I really need to get my butt in gear and start working out and watching what I eat again. It's so easy to slip up especially when you have a crappy day or just don't feel good, or think you don't have time. "I'll start tomorrow" is such an easy phrase to let slip out. I enjoy being outside, so walking seems like the course to take right now. I've done Spinning and Body Pump in the past and absolutely love those, too.  If you want a tough workout that's where it's at!!

A Sign of Spring

This morning I peered between the blinds in the dining room to find a couple of rabbits sprinting through the backyard. Finally, it seems as though Spring is almost here!! Shocked that our dog, Honey, hasn't discovered this frenzy yet I called her over to join me.  A few seconds later our 10 year old son walks through the kitchen and wondered what we were staring at. It was actually comical watching the female rabbit take off running, then watching the other 3 males chase her. Keep in mind we also have 2 acres of land... We started making up dialogue to go along with the pattern of running & stopping. Soon things started getting "Rated R" and our son says, "maybe they're playing an advanced game of TAG!!"
