Wine Glass Find of the Week

I'm starting a new weekly feature in addition to the Weekly Wine Rack... Wine Glass Find of the Week! I simply love wine glasses, don't you? If I bought every set that I really liked, I would need a bigger house to store them all. Whether they're colorful, plain, or completely unique, they add to the whole wine drinking experience. Even the simplest of glasses have character. Here's my first find...

Biarritz Wine

I love the jewel tones and the unique shape of these beautiful handblown glasses! They even match my blog header... yep, I'm a designer.

Two of My Favorite Things — Wine & Flowers

Aster Hand Painted Wine Glass

With Christmas just around the corner, here's a great gift idea for your favorite wine lover and gardener!!

These intricately hand-painted wine glasses are certainly a must to check out. My favorite is the Blue/White Aster featured below, which is painted in non-toxic, acrylic enamel paint. Top-shelf dishwasher safe, yet hand washing is recommended to preserve the design.

The Painted House & More site features many floral designs, or you can contact Amy to create custom glassware for a special event or theme. With a variety of glasses to choose from, why not create a full set? Coordinating dinner pieces also available. She also offers many other painted items... great ideas for weddings, birthday, or cocktail parties!

“The 7 Deadly Glasses are about celebrating passion and encouraging the user to be sinful in a theatrical fashion. The display case is a sarcophagus for the wine glasses, made using mahogany wood, brass fittings and a velvet fabric lining.”

Nuernberg Bridal Cup

And now, for something completely different...

I recently witnessed this tradition at my friend’s wedding in April. Since her father is German it seemed fitting. The beautifully crafted cup allows the bride and groom to toast to their wedding from the same vessel. A memory that all their guests will certainly not forget either. Can you figure it out?

This German wedding tradition started way back in 1450 and represents the start of a life long union between man and woman and is a symbol of faithfulness and good luck.

Here’s the link if you’d like to read the actual history behind the cup… Quite interesting!
